Google has introduced Gemini 2.5 Computer Use, a new capability that lets its AI model control web browsers directly — performing actions like clicking, typing, scrolling, and navigating webpages just like a human user.
The feature allows developers to integrate Gemini as a hands-on digital agent that can automate web tasks, interact with UI-only systems, or execute research workflows that require browsing. It works through a “computer_use” API that issues specific UI actions, which are then carried out in a browser environment such as Chrome or through automation tools like Playwright.
